I began my career in real estate in April, 1983 at a company known as Walter Scott Realty. In 1985, I moved to a company known as Ackerman and Company, Stone Mountain location. I was the top producing agent in this office in the year 1986. A good portion of my business at Ackerman was listing and selling Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac properties. When Ackerman and Company closed the Stone Mountain office, I went to work at a company known as Cara Realty, Inc. I still work at this company today. In 1989, I bought half of the stock in Cara Realty and began running the company. In 1989, I bid on and won a four year government contract managing 24 counties under the direction of HUD in the northern portion of the state of Georgia. In 1993, after my HUD contract was up, while continuing to run Cara Realty, I went to work part time at an appraisal company appraising HUD homes in the northern counties of the state of Georgia. In 1999, before HUD eliminated the Property Disposition Department, I was awarded another contract to appraise the northern counties within the state of Georgia until Property Disposition shut down and privatized. In the years 2000 and 2001, along with my real estate sales company, I ran a crew of eight appraisers completing HUD appraisals for the entire state of Georgia for a company that took over the responsibilities of Property Disposition, known as Best Assets. Three years since the millennium, I was contracted by FHA as the review appraiser covering metro Atlanta, again while continuing to run Cara Realty. In 2010, due to the real estate downturn, we began selling rental properties to investors. We then went on to manage these properties for these investors, though today most investors have divested their portfolios. We do very little property management at the moment. I continue to do appraisals, primarily for banks and appraisal management companies. I am still an FHA approved appraiser.
